His total in 2 weeks is , which is more that those other 3 guys did in the same 2 weeks. His career is doing well. The album is better than you think and he is starting to get increased airplay. The official Soundscan figures released on Wednesday showed over 20, I don't recall the exact figure. Still a big drop, but not as bad as originally thought. R91, it's true, many Clay fans, even Claymates, probably don't care whether Clay is gay or not, even those who currently insist he is straight.
Clay wont even threaten the mighty k total sales 'barrier' with this dog. RCA dropped Taylor for a k seller k 1st week. Dropped McPhee for a k seller k 1st week, 60 k 2nd week He's done. There's simply no public demand for anything he does, and record labels are sooooo not charities.
Clay is less clear. First, as someone said, his current single, released the same time as the album instead of the usual weeks ahead, is actually getting some radio play, which COULD mean sales will pick up though that's by no means a sure thing. The only song he's had radio success with in the past other than Christmas songs is Invisible. Second, this is Clay's fourth album for them, and expectations were not as high for it.
Clive Davis once said that an Idol contestant releasing their first album should get around a , bump from Idol, and real sales are anything above that.
That puts Taylor and Kat's album sales into a much different light. Plus album sales are down all around from two years ago when their albums were released. This is actually the best album he's made, far superior to his first pop album and infinitely better to the terrible covers album Clive Davis foisted on him two years ago. And the fallout from that piece of crap is mostly responsible for people not running out to pick up his current CD right away they got burned once, they aren't going to risk it again.
If he can get radio play sales WILL pick up because there are some very good songs on this album. But that's a big IF. Even if he does get dropped and many fans are praying he will be as they hate RCA he has diversified enough that he will be around for a long time to come doing one thing or another. I know you will disagree as you obviously loathe him, but wait and see, I will be proved right and you wrong in the long run.
